What Is ALS? ALS is a disorder of the central nervous system that leaves the victim progressively paralyzed, even though the mind is unaffected. ALS is always fatal, in most cases within three to five years from diagnosis. There is currently no effective treatment for ALS. LEARN MORE >> What Is Extra Hands for ALS? Extra Hands for ALS sends pairs of students to help ALS families with chores and provide companionship for the homebound. The students grow and mature while the families receive much needed help.
