Legacy Giving
Gifts to Extra Hands for ALS can play an important role in reducing capital gains taxes, generating a charitable income tax deduction, and reducing estate and gift taxes. Some of the more popular ways in which planned giving can be utilized to benefit Extra Hands for ALS include:
- Gifts taking effect at death: If you wish to make a gift to Extra Hands at your death, you may do so through your Last Will and Testament, your Revocable Living Trust, your retirement plan or through your life insurance policy beneficiary designation. If properly formatted, such a gift should qualify for a full estate tax charitable deduction that could reduce or eliminate estate taxes. Click here for more information.
- Charitable Lead Trusts: Properly structured, a charitable lead trust will provide Extra Hands for ALS with an income stream for a fixed period of time and, depending on the investment performance, will pass the underlying assets to your selected beneficiaries at the end of the term while significantly reducing the estate or gift tax that would otherwise be attributable to such asset. Click here for more information.
- Charitable Remainder Trusts: Properly structured, a charitable remainder trust will provide you or your selected beneficiary with an income stream for a specific term, with the assets passing to Extra Hands for ALS at the end of the term with significant estate and gift tax savings. Click here for more information.
Charitable lead trusts and charitable remainder trusts can be created during your lifetime or at your death by your Last Will and Testament or other testamentary instrument.
